Pretty city? CDA chairman starts inspection of projects

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal on Friday started inspecting different sectors in connection with the Authority’s on-going projects aimed to ensure quality services to the residents of the city.

During the first phase, Maroof Afzal visited the markets, parks, avenues and green belts of sector G-6, F-6 and F-7. Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Engineering Shahid Sohail, senior officers of the environment and other relevant formations also accompanied him during the visit.

During visiting different parks and green areas along the major road sides of the sectors, the chairman CDA directed the Environment Wing to remove rank vegetation, shrubs and bushes, beautification and aesthetic uplift of green belts, median strips, roundabout and intersections etc. While inspecting general cleanliness of the sectors, he directed the Civic Management wing to ensure proper collection and disposal of garbage and other wastes on daily basis. He further directed the civic management wing to carry out repair, maintenance and painting of dustbins, garbage trolleys and skips in addition to the up-gradation of public toilets facility.

He directed the Engineering Wing of the Authority for early execution of repair, maintenance and patch work of roads and footpaths in addition to repair/opening of sewerage and drainage lines and provision of missing manhole covers. He directed the Member Engineering to ensure uninterrupted supply of water, repair / maintenance of water supply pipelines, water filtration plants and will uplift of the electrical and civil enquiries in the city. CDA Chairman also directed to remove illegal khokhas / kiosks, kabaar khanas and all such encroachments which are defacing the natural beauty of Islamabad.

The CDA chairman said that the sector-wise renovation, up-gradation and beautification campaign-2015 will not only resolve the issues of the general public at their doorsteps but will also help create awareness and bring an attitude change amongst the citizens and stakeholders. He said that during the campaign, nominated officers of relevant formations along with their staff will remain stationed at a particular sector to execute the tasks assigned in an effective and efficient manner.

CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal also visited the under construction parking plazas at Jinnah Super Market, Markaz F-7.

He was apprised that construction work on parking plaza located on Northern side has been completed and is in finishing phase while the shuttering work up to ground level on Southern side parking plaza has been executed and parking plaza will be completed soon.

He directed the member engineering to expedite the residual finishing work on the Northern side of the parking plaza so that it could be opened for the general public within a week time and to expedite the construction work on the Southern Side parking plaza so that residents of Islamabad could benefit from the facility. He directed the Engineering Wing with to ensure proper lighting and improvement of access paths from parking plazas to the market.
