New LG system all for the people: InayatUllah

KP Senior Minister for Local Govt and Rural Development Inayat Ullah Khan has said Nazims and other elected LG representatives are taking an oath of their offices simultaneously all over the province to start serving the masses.

Talking to various delegations of elected councilors, elite of the city and traders leaders at his office LG Secretariat Peshawar that called in him to apprise him of their problems and demands, InayatUllah assured proper resolution for all genuine grievances of the delegations. He reiterated that the new but unique LG system would translate aspirations of the masses and all their problems would be solved at their doorsteps besides the guaranteed availability of basic civic amenities including health, education, hygiene, sanitation, water supply, parks and street lights.

He said that besides the local resources with the local bodies, it would be given even 30 per cent extra funds of the provincial government and hence every district with all tiers up-to tehsil and village councils would receive Rs 3.5-4 million more to enable the elected LG representatives expedite the pace of progress with a big momentum. He said this would also make the local bodies stand on their own feet and complete major development schemes of vital public interest, as well as directly benefit the masses.

The senior minister asked the elected LG representatives to prepare themselves and plan development schemes in water supply, health, education, sanitation and other sectors of civic amenities at all levels in cities, towns and streets to provide succor to the people especially the poor. He also met a delegation of the traders community of old vegetable and fruit market that requested to allow them continue their business there till arrangement of the alternate places.

InayatUllah made it clear that the present coalition govt of KP would mitigate economic hardships of the small traders and shopkeepers. However, he maintained that illegal bus-stands, vegetable and fruit markets would be strictly discouraged to make it a streamlined and disciplined business.
