Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has deferred the election of new speaker of National Assembly till the by-election are conducted in NA-122 constituency.
Sources said that the PM decision to postpone election of new speaker was aimed at waiting results of by-election in NA-122 where former Speaker NA, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will contest on PML-N ticket.
In case he wins the by-election, PML-N will re-elect Sardar Ayaz Sadiq as Speaker of National Assembly.
Sources said that Deputy Speaker, Murtaza Javed Abbasi will continue to serve as Acting Speaker of NA till the election was conducted in NA-122 and news speaker was elected.
