Only a mad man would contest election under current ECP, says Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said that only a mad man would contest election under the current Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Talking in a talkshow on Dunya News, Imran Khan said that PTI has not yet decided whether it should contest the by-election or not.

“All options are open to us. We’ll decide on Saturday whether we should contest the by-elections or not,” he said.

The PTI chief said that justice in Pakistan protects the powerful and the corrupt.

“Jahangir Khan Tareen spent Rs 20 million to get justice. I had to spend Rs. 2.6 million. How can a common man contest election in such a corrupt system,” he said, adding that Justice (r) Kazim Ali Malik had written it in his decision that the NADRA chairman had tried to protect the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He said that he had nothing personal against Sardar Ayaz Sadiq but wanted to improve the electoral system.

Answering a question, Khan said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gets himself photographed with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif because he has no credibility of his own. “Gen Sharif is the most popular person in Pakistan at the moment,” he said.

On the ongoing anti-terror operations, Khan said that he would not object if army and Rangers act in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) and arrest anyone over corruption. “I won’t object because I would know that I wasn’t behind that corruption,” he said.
