The provincial health secretary submitted on Tuesday reports before the Sindh High Court (SHC) informing it about the burns centres and DNA testing laboratories in the province.
According to a report submitted to the court, there are three burns centers but only one burns center in Civil Hospital Karachi is functional.
The report went on to say that the health department is setting up burns centers in Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Dadu, Mirpurkhas, Naushehro Feroz, Badin, Kotri, Umerkot, Mirpur Mathelo and others parts of the province. All these centers would be completed and would be functioning within one year.
Separately, the secretary also submitted a report regarding DNA laboratories stating that such laboratory was working Liaquat University of Health Sconces, Jamshoro, whereas a lab for DNA testing in Karachi would be completed by 2016.
The court included both the reports to its record and adjourned the hearing till 17th September. The health secretary submitted reports in compliance of court’s direction as the SHC bench headed by Sajjad Ali Shah, on the last hearing, had directed them to present report in this regard.
The SHC bench was hearing a petition filed by Madadgar helpline seeking medical facilities in the different parts of the Sindh as people across the province have to visit Karachi in case of requiring any major medical facility.
