ISIS’ psychological warfare involves the planned use of propaganda and other psychological operations to influence the opinions, emotions, attitudes and behaviour of its target areas or groups in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. The main objective of its warfare is to win through terror, without being engaged in full scale war or achieve a significant victory with fighting at a low scale. Reportedly it is successfully achieving its objectives by securing favourable position in relation with politics and nature of warfare.
Psychological warfare is the ISIS’ use and application of propaganda against the ‘enemy’ in combination with other operational measures of military, economic or political nature. Its dread is so widespread because of efficient media techniques used with the help of scientific advancements like high speed printing as well as radio.
ISIS poses serious threats and though Ch Nisar denies its presence in Pakistan, yet our media, government, military, agencies and the mass communication fraternity must realise proactively to take effective measures in order to counter its impact and spread.
