CIIT announces PhD Scholarships for Baloch Youths, CM Balochistan hails decision

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology has announced 50 annual scholarships for youth from Balochistan.

The decision was a follow up to the Gwadar Declaration & decisions of special meeting of heads of Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Science Pakistan (IUCPSS) hosted by Government of Balochistan on 9-10th April 2015. The announcement was made by Rector CIIT Islamabad, Dr. S.M Junaid Zaidi during a meeting with Chief Minister Balochistan’s Education Advisor, Sardar Muhammad Raza Barrech .

Chairman Inter University Consortium and Vice Chancellor University of Haripur Dr. Nasser Ali Khan, Pro Rector CIIT Dr. Haroon Rashid, National Coordinator Inter University Consortium, Muhammad Murtaza Noor and other officials were also present on the occasion. The Rector CIIT also assured all possible cooperation to Balochistan government for establishment of Technology Park at Quetta.

Chairperson Inter University Consortium Dr. Nasser Ali Khan said as per commitments by the inter university consortium and its partner organizations, the consortium has already decided for allocation of seats for the students of Balochistan along with scholarship opportunities. He also extended thanks to CIIT Rector and administration of National Testing Service of Pakistan for hosting Professional Development Workshop for the university faculty members of Balochistan Universities.

Chief Minister Balochistan’s Advisor on Education Sardar Muhammad Raza Barrech appreciated keen interest &  collaborative efforts of CIIT and inter university consortium for promoting higher education in Balochistan. He said that such steps would be greatly helpful for improving quality of teaching and research in the higher education sector of the province and would promote inter provincial harmony as well.  He believed that youth of province would benefit from this PhD scholarship program and after completion of their studies, would contribute for socio-economic development of the country. He also announced that a parliamentary delegation from Balochistan would soon visit CIIT.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, on behalf of coalition government and people of Balochistan, extended thanks to CIIT and inter university consortium for assisting government of Balochistan and undertaking practical steps for improving the state of higher education in the province. He remarked that award of 50 scholarships each year to the youth of Balochistan, would be helpful in overcoming shortage of educated human resource in the province. He said that coalition government would continue to benefit from the expertise of the member institutions and partner organizations of the consortium in future as well.

  1. I am very happy to read this post because it relates to me a lot. Well,l Not a very true and initiative plan they are going to produce, but instead they must needs to understand values of education before they could go to change anything also it will be not so easy thing to do.
