The Harbanspura Police on Monday raided an illegal slaughterhouse in its jurisdiction and seized 1,600 kilogrammes (40 maunds) of donkey and horse meat.
According to information, the meat was going to be sold in the open market for public consumption.
The Punjab government claims that it is making efforts to stop the sale of dead meat of halal animals as well as donkey meat, yet the practice is continuing unabated across the province.
