Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) negotiating team led by Farooq Sattar is likely to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the issue of resignation of MQM parliamentarians.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman, who had been nominated by the prime minister to persuade MQM to withdraw resignations will be present on the occasion. The ground for the meeting was prepared by JUI- Fazl on Sunday.

Sources said that the JUI-F chief held a telephonic conversation with Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar in this regard. He apprised Dar about his recent telephonic conversation with MQM chief Altaf Hussain over the matter. Fazl also sought the PM’s first available time-slot to hold a meeting with MQM delegation.

Dar assured the JUI-F chief that the government was ready to remove all ‘legitimate reservations’ of MQM.

Maulana Fazl had assured the MQM leadership of a meeting with the premier to resolve the issue when he visited Karachi last week on the same day when MQM’s Rashid Godil was attacked in the city.

MQM leadership has regretted that Prime Minister Sharif did not take time out to visit Godil, who suffered multiple bullet wounds after coming under an armed attack last week.

Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah talking to media in Sukkur on Sunday said the meeting is expected on Monday.
