Information Minister Pervez Rashid has vowed to move the Supreme Court of Pakistan against Election Tribunal’s decision to de-seat National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq,
“We respect the decision but don’t agree with it,” he said, dubbing the Election Tribunal verdict biased.
Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Sunday, he said the law and constitution give them the right to appeal against the decision and they will challenge the decision in the Supreme Court. He said verdict punished the ruling party for the mistakes of the Election Commission of Pakistan. Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq has nothing to do with these administrative irregularities, he added.
To a question, the minister termed the Election Tribunal’s decision as biased as the tribunal did not de-seat the PTI member of the Punjab Assembly falling under NA-122. It only ordered re polling where PML-N candidates had won in last general elections.
He claimed that history of Haripur, where the N-League defeated PTI in by-election, would be repeated if re-election is ordered in the constituencies of Ayaz Sadiq and Khawaja Sadiq Rafique.
