More than 90 people, including suspected militants, were arrested during search operations in Peshawar and Kurram Agency on Saturday.

According to police sources, the police carried out search operation in Karkhano market area of Peshawar and arrested 80 suspects. The arrested suspects were shifted to police stations for interrogation.

Meanwhile, the security forces Saturday arrested nine suspected militants during a search operation in Kurram Agency.

According to reports, the security forces and Levies carried out search and targeted operation in Bagan area of Kurram Agency. At least nine suspects were arrested during the operation. They were shifted to unknown location for interrogation.

In the meanwhile, Islamabad’s Sihalah and Bhara Kahu police stations on Saturday arrested 27 suspects including 15 Afghan nationals as they could not produce any document for their identity, a police spokesman said.

Bhara Kahu and Sihala police conducted search operation in various areas of their jurisdiction in which they screened houses, workshops, markets, under construction buildings and residential areas.

Following the directions of Islamabad IGP Tahir Alam Khan and Islamabad SSP, search operation was initiated and the police are conducting checking at slum areas, inns, hotels and restaurants and Afghan habitats. These measures are being taken to ensure foolproof security and keep vigilant eye on the suspected elements.

On Saturday, various teams of Bhara Kahu Police conducted search operation in various areas of its jurisdiction including Kot Hathyal while Sihala Police Station conducted thorough combing and search in its respective area. The police commandos including lady commandos, women police also participated in operation while sniffer dogs were also used in some areas.

Such search operations would continue in coming days and complete combing would be made of sensitive areas, the spokesman maintained.
