24 schools under SEF closed

As many as 22 out of 24 schools established under the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) have been closed in Larkana district owing to insufficient facilities due to which education of hundreds of students has gone down the drain and teachers working there have been rendered jobless.
These schools were opened under SEF's Integrated Education Learning Programme (IELP) of SEF. Incharge SEF Larkana Naheed Abbasi told reporters on Saturday that contract for establishing these schools was always given when the admission must be over 100 students in a single school and its building and furniture should also be of quality standard. It was the job of those who seek contract or the NGO, hence the contract of 22 schools were cancelled as they failed to perform well and did not fulfill the basic requirements of the contract, he added. On the other hand, the teachers of these schools, who have been rendered unemployed, met Education Secretary Fazalullah Pechuho in Larkana and sought his help in getting these closed schools open.
Pechuho telephonically contacted Naheed Abbasi who told him about the prevalent situation. Pechuho later informed the delegation of the unemployed teachers that the head of SEF Naheed Shah could not make wrong decisions; hence, these schools could not be reopened till requirements were fulfilled.
