JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday and briefed him about his talks with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders at Nine Zero on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister appreciated the role of Maulana Fazlur Rehman with regard to his role for creating political harmony, stability and reconciliation.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Fazl said MQM leaders will travel to Islamabad and either meet with the prime minister or his team of representatives. “The time of the meeting will be dependent on the condition of Rashid Godil.”
Fazl added there was no matter pertaining to the resignations which could not be discussed and even the prime minister was interested in them being withdrawn. He said the Prime Minister is taking personal interest to persuade the MQM to withdraw the resignations.
During his meeting with MQM leaders on Tuesday, Fazlur Rehman was successful in persuading them to hold a second round of talks over the resignation issue in Islamabad.
The government has tasked Fazlur Rehman to mediate with the MQM and convince the party to withdraw resignations of its lawmakers from the assemblies.
