The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought a reply from federal and provincial governments in the case of Government College University (GCU) denying admission to a female student for wearing veil. Justice Ijazul Hassan was hearing the case.

During the hearing, the petitioner said that she had been denied admission in the college for wearing veil.

She said that institutions worldwide allow students to follow dress code of their choice.

It is an attempt to darken college’s future by such condemnable act, she added. The troubled student requested the court to order college officials to grant her admission.

The court ordered the Punjab and federal governments along with the college to file reply until September 10.
