The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has decided to lease the Flashman Hotel in Rawalpindi.
The PTDC and Flashman hotel employers union called a meeting and condemned the privatisation of the hotel and decided to stage a protest.
When contacted the PTDC Managing Director Kabir Ahmed Khan claimed that the Flashman hotel will not be privatised but given on lease for 15 years, adding that this move would result in the betterment and renovation of the hotel. During the lease period, it will not allowed to modify the building structure he added.
He said that the hotel was constructed on nine acres of land with 60 rooms, two halls and a barroom. It also possesses a wine permit.
