The finding of initial investigation into the deadly suicide attack take took life of Colonel (r) Shuja Khanzada and 21 others revealed that two men using 15 kilograms of explosives blew themselves up in the attack.
According to the finding, one of the attackers entered Khanzada’s office, shook hands with him and then stood beside a pillar of the veranda and detonated the explosives strapped to his body. He used 4-5 kilograms of explosives.
One more explosion happened outside the office. The second explosion was carried out by the second terrorist out on the street behind the office which made its roof to cave in on the people present inside.
The suicide bomber on the outside used 10 kilograms of explosives. It was a powerful blast, shredding a cow walking past the bomber. Its flesh was found littered in a wide of radius of 100 metres.
The investigation is inconclusive whether the second blast was carried out by a man outside or the cow which might have been strapped with explosives.
The findings also state that the attackers had not just come to kill the people present inside the office but to destroy the building as well.
Further investigation revealed that Khanzada and his three companions received severe burn injuries and major parts of their bodies suffered badly as a result of a 8-tonne piece of roof collapsing on them.
According to the report, his body was damaged beyond recognition and was identified by his shoes and waistcoat. The body was in such a bad condition that even his post mortem could not be performed.
Death toll reaches 22:
Meanwhile, Khanzada’s cousin Amrez Khan embraced martyrdom as he succumbed to wounds in hospital.
Authorities have started compiling records of telephone calls made three hours before and two hours after the suicide attack in Shadi Khan Village.
Death toll of the Attock attack has reached to at least 22. Khanzada’s son, Jahangir Khanzada along with other people offered fateha at the grave of martyred home minister and laid wreath.
On the other hand, flocks of people continue their visits to offer condolences to the family at their house.
