Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani on Monday directed the secretary to commence scrutiny of the Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) members’ resignations for approval.
Agha Siraj Durrani stated that MQM resignations cannot be accepted without scrutiny. He said that eleven MQM MPAs are not present in the country, thus, there are legal complications for approval of their resignations.
On the other hand, Sindh Law Minister Sikandar Mandhro has suggested that the resignations should be forwarded to the legal committee. Mandhro has also advised the speaker not to make haste on the matter.
It may be mentioned here that 51 MQM MPAs resigned from their seats last week in protest against alleged victimisation of party workers.
