The Punjab Police on Sunday beefed up security in the province in the wake of the blast in Attock district.

According to the Home Department sources, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IG) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has directed the police force to intensify patrolling and beef up security.

Regional city and district police officers across the province were directed to remain high alert and ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order in their respective areas.

Police officials have further been instructed to take effective precautionary measures, especially in crowded public places, to prevent incidents of terrorism and subversion and ordered deployment of plain clothes police where necessary.

Police officers were further directed to utilise all available resources and their best professional skills to maintain vigil over activities of suspects and dubious elements.

The Home Department urged people to cooperate with police in this regard and encouraged that in case they found any unclaimed object or see a suspicious person or shady activity they must immediately inform police emergency and Rescue 15 to prevent any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Amin Vance directed the DIG, SSP, ASPs/DSPs and SHOs (operation) to strengthen and beef up security to frustrate evil designs of anti-people, anti-state and unscrupulous elements.
