Punjab Cabinet pays homage to slain Shuja Khanzada

A special condolence meeting of Punjab Cabinet was held in Lahore on Monday to pay rich tributes to the martyred Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over the meeting. Fateha khawani was offered for the late home minister and 19 other people who lost their lives in Sunday’s suicide blast at Attock.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that Khanzada’s services for the country are great and will be remembered forever. He said that the war against terrorism will continue till elimination of the last terrorist.

He said that the Punjab Cabinet will recommend to the federal government to announce the highest civilian award for the late Khanzada.

The provincial cabinet adopted a resolution praising the services of late Khanzada and condemning Sunday’s terrorist attack.

The cabinet decided to continue to take every measure for the thorough implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).

Meanwhile, addressing a high-level meeting on law and order, Shehbaz warned that there will be an open war now and terrorists and their facilitators will be taken to task. He directed that law and order situation in the province should be further improved and foolproof security arrangement should be made. He said that all possible efforts should be made for the improvement of security measures.

“There is a dire need to further improve the intelligence system and police and law enforcement agencies should perform their duties in a coordinated and efficient manner to ensure better intelligence sharing,” he said.

He said that terrorism and extremism will be rooted out for saving Pakistan and the elements responsible for suicide in Attock will be brought to justice.

Provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah and Tanvir Aslam Malik, National Assembly Member (MNA) Hamza Shehbaz, chief secretary, special assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, inspector general of police (IGP), secretary Home and officers concerned attended the meeting while DCO and DPO Attock participated in the meeting through video link.
