Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Mohammad Khan, PCB Chairman Executive Committee Najam Sethi and PCB Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmad have offered their heartfelt condolences on the most unfortunate demise of Punjab Home Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada in a most condemnable terrorist suicide bombing at his home town Attock on Sunday. “Col. Shuja was a brave army officer, and a hands-on home minister who had only recently been such a great help to Pakistan Cricket Board in security-wise smoothly organising the Zimbabwe series in a safe environment. We mourn his death,” the trio said in a statement.
In a message to the late Khanzada’s family, they said: “We are deeply distressed at the manner of Khanzada’s death. And we share your grief at this enormous loss. In his brief but meaningful association with us before, during and immediately after the Zimbabwe series he befriended everyone he came across at the PCB. His presence was indeed most reassuring throughout the first home rubber with a full member of the International Cricket Council since the attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009. The news of his death was indeed a shock for us. We grieve for him. The PCB’s upper tier management and its entire staff pray to the Almighty to bestow Khanzada’s soul with eternal peace and grant the family and the dear ones the courage and strength to bear this irredeemable loss.”
