Justice Khawaja to take oath as CJP today

Justice Jawad S Khawaja will take oath as Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on Monday (today).

Justice Nasirul Mulk, after completion of his tenure as CJP, retired on Sunday and being the senior most judge in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice S Khawaja will replace him.

On advice of PM Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain has already given the approval of the appointment of Justice S Khawaja as next CJP.

Justice Khawaja was born on September 10, 1950, in Wazirabad, District Gujranwala. He completed his graduation in Arts from FC College, Lahore in 1971 before taking up LLB from the PunjabUniversityLawCollege, Lahore, completing it in 1973. He then obtained a Masters in Law (LL.M) degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1975.
