An anti-terrorism court on Monday acquitted the only suspect arrested in connection to the murder of Karachi University Professor Waheedur Rehman due to lack of evidence.
The investigation officer presented a police report which stated that no evidence was found against suspect Sami-ul-Zaman in the murder case of Prof. Rehman.
The report further says that neither any further arrests have been made nor any witness has come forward to record their statement in the case.
The court accepted the police report and acquitted Sami, the only suspect arrested in the case. The accused was in police custody on 14-day physical remand.
The Karachi University professor was assassinated on April 29 in F.B Area of Karachi.
