Five of a family drown in River Indus

Five people from the same family drowned in the River Indus on Friday.

Three bodies recovered, while the search for the other two is in progress.

Police said that five members of a family were crossing the River Indus near Amri Bridge in Nawabshah through a small boat and the boat capsized because it was overloaded, resulting in all five people drowning into the deep water of the river.

The rescue divers, after hectic efforts that ran for several hours, fished out three bodies while the search for the other two is underway.

Abdul Qadeer, 50, son of Abdul Aziz, was injured by unknown gunmen near Tooba Masjid in Korangi 3 ½. He was brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for treatment.

In another incident, a man, Niaz, 35, son of Nabi Bakhsh, was injured by a stray bullet near Al Hadeed Masjid. He was rushed to CHK for treatment.

A man, Sikandar, 40, son of Muhammad Azam, was shot and injured when armed men entered Syed Ghulam Shah Bukhari Mazar and opened fire on him in Rexer Line, Old Golimar. He was shifted to CHK for treatment.

A girl, Fatima, 17, daughter of Zahid, was shot and injured by unknown gunmen in Gulshan-e-Hadeed. She was shifted to JPMC for treatment.

A 10-year-old boy Sami, son of Syed Rahman, was injured by unknown armed men in North Nazimabad. He was shifted to ASH for treatment.
