FCCU celebrates Independence Day

The Forman Christian College (FCC) celebrated Pakistan’s 68th Independence Day with great enthusiasm on Friday.

The ceremony, hosted by FCC student Victoria Walter, was opened by recitations from the Holy Quran by another student, Umar Waqas and from the Holy Bible by Victoria Walter.

The national flag was hoisted by FCC Rector Dr James Tebbe in the presence of faculty and staff members.

Among the attendees were Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr Joseph ones, Registrar Dr Hamid Saeed, Vice Rector Intermediate Professor CJ Dubash and Head of Security Col Khaqan Mahmood.

The FCC Security Guards Corps saluted the flag while singing the the national anthem.

Independence Day speeches were given by faculty members Muneeza Mirza and Saleem Masih Asim, who talked about the Pakistan Movement and the role of minorities in the struggle for independence. Dr Tebbe mentioned the importance of a united Pakistan and ending corruption in the country.

Faculty member Dr Shahida Dilawar presented a poem she had written for the occasion.

Sweets were distributed among the attendees by FCC Chief Advancement Officer Mrs Yvette Jones at the end of the ceremony.

The LWMC brought Independence Day floats to FCC for the occasion while the Lahore Old City brought ‘Rangeela Rikshaws’ to offer free rides to the children in attendance.

  1. FCC is struggling hard to improve its status,but still it can’t reach the standard of LUMS or Government College.
