PFA turns up the heat on crooked eateries

The ongoing operation by Punjab Food Authority (PFA) against substandard eateries and food related outlets continued on Thursday as its Director Operations Ayesha Mumtaz raided an oil extraction unit at a village near Babu Sabu and sealed it due to unhygienic conditions.

The special squad of PFA found during tee inspection that the non edible parts from animals were being used in the process of oil extraction. Three persons were arrested and an FIR was launched over the criminal act.

A Gulberg Town team under the supervision of Mrs Mumtaaz visited the La Atrium restaurant located at Chen one road and sealed it because of non compliance on previous warnings to improve their conditions. The inspection team had found dirty chillers, rotten vegetables and expired food products in the store room. The same Ayesha Mumtaaz along with Data Ganj Baksh town team visited King Edward Medical University (KEMU)’s canteen and imposed heavy fines for keeping injections and medicines in the same freezers that were being used to store food items.
