All institutions and important buildings including universities, colleges and schools have turned green and white with national flags on the occasion of 69th Independence Day of Pakistan.
Students, children and adults are excitingly waiting to celebrate the Independence Day in Karachi. In many areas, roads including MA Jinnah Road, University Road, Shahra-e-Faisal, many big and small buildings have been decorated with Pakistani flags, buntings, lights and posters.
Many shops, vehicles and motorcycles on all roads could be seen decorated with green and white colour in the city. Many families have covered rooftops of their cars and hind screens with the national flags.
All universities have organised special events and functions on the occasion of Independence Day. University of Karachi arranged an Independence Day walk which was led by its Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Qaiser and participated by registrar, deans of all faculties, all sectional heads, chairpersons of departments, and a large number of students and teachers on August 13.
On the occasion, students wearing green and white dresses participated in the walk which concluded at Administration Building where the vice chancellor hoisted the Pakistani flag. The departments which participated in the walk included Center of Excellence in Marine Biology, Department of Commerce, Department of Zoology, Department of Business Administration and many others.
NED University of Engineering and Technology also arranged a programme on August 13 to celebrate the Independence Day which was attended by students, teachers and faculty members. Students delivered speeches on the importance of Independence Day.
Some other varsities including Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, Federal Urdu University of Arts and Science and Technology would arrange special functions on August 14 to celebrate Jashan-e-Azadi.
A mega and colourful even was arranged by the employees of Sindh government outside the Sindh Secretariat to celebrate the Independence Day on Thursday.
