Who loves us more than China, asks NA deputy speaker

Deputy Speaker National Assembly (NA) Murtaza Javed Abbasi has said that besides good neighbours, Pakistan and China are time-tested and all-weather friends and Pakistan attaches highest priority to its relations with China.

He expressed these views while talking to a six-member delegation headed by Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament to Pakistan President, Mr. He Jun, which called on him in the Parliament House on Wednesday.

Murtaza Javed Abbasi said that friendship and cooperation between both the brotherly countries serve the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples, and contribute to peace, stability and development in the region and beyond. He said that Pakistan strongly desire to further consolidate and deepen its deep-rooted, all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation for mutual benefit of both the nations. He said that Pakistan appreciates the strong support and selfless assistance from the Chinese government and people for its socio-economic and its national security and territorial integrity.

The deputy speaker underlined the need to further enhance Parliamentary cooperation between Chinese National People’s Congress and National Assembly of Pakistan.  He said that regular interaction between parliamentarians of both the countries could play a vital role to further cement the existing bilateral relations.

While discussing China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Project, the deputy speaker said that the project is a valuable gift by China for the people Pakistan.  He said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif was taking keen interest in CPEC Project and has established a special task force to monitor it. He also appreciated the Chinese assistance in power sectors especially the solar power project for the Parliament building.

He said that this solar project is a symbol of the friendship between the two countries.   He also expressed the need to transmit the rich traditions of friendship to future generations through cultural programme and youth exchanges.  He also appreciated the remarks expressed by the Chinese President for Pakistan in his address to Joint Sitting of Parliament during his visit to Pakistan.

He Jun said the Chinese Government always regards Pakistan as its closest friend and wants to further deepen China-Pakistan friendship and pass it on from generation to generation. He appreciated the steps taken by the Pakistan’s Government to curb the terrorism and extremism and assured Chinese all out support in this regard. The delegation also witnessed the proceeding of the National Assembly Session.
