The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Tuesday unanimously asked the federal government for the abolition of power load shedding in the province and transfer of the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) chairman for his role in this regard.
The joint resolution presented by Nighat Yasmin Orakzai of PPP was drafted after a detailed discussion in the house in the presence of the Leader of the House, Pervez Khattak.
In the detailed discussion, the legislators of all parliamentary parties including PML-N participated and assured support to the provincial government in the abolition of massive power load shedding.
The resolution was also carrying the signatures of Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao of QWP, Yasmin Pir Mohammad Khan of ANP, Shah Hussain of JUI-F and Parliamentary Leader of PML-N, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Aurangzeb Nalotah while the treasury benches the resolution was signed by provincial ministers Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi and Habib-ur-Rehman.
The resolution said that Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has unleashed a reign of cruelty and injustice on the whole province including provincial metropolis Peshawar.
It further said that PESCO is carrying out 12 to 22 hours long load shedding and in case of fault in transformers it took several weeks and most of the people repair these transformers from their own pockets. The load shedding it said had made the lives of the people miserable and despite repeated assurances, they were never implemented.
The resolution further said that even the provincial chief minister, cabinet members and parliamentary leaders of all political parties along with public representatives staged a protest, but federal government is still paying no attention to the resolution of the issue and neither load shedding is being abolished in the electricity producing province nor it is supplied power on the basis of the schedule and nor the province is being given its due right in head of net hydel profit.
The federal government is intentionally created a situation, which is producing hatred against federal government in each resident of the province.
Therefore, the provincial assembly recommended to asked federal government for the abolition of unscheduled power load shedding and under a plan the people are being provoked against the provincial government.
Earlier, due to the absence of the members, the questions of the members were lapsed.
Meanwhile, the absence of the arrested PTI minister Ziaullah once again echoed in the house when Shah Hussain Alai of JUI-F requested the speaker for ruling on the application of the arrested legislator. Bakht Baidar of QWP requested the shifting of Ziaullah from central jail to MPA’s Hostel.
The speaker said that he has already received the application of the arrested member and is seeking the legal advice over the matter.
