Minorities’ rights to be protected: Mamnoon Hussain

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the enemy of minorities was the enemy of Pakistan, local media sources reported.

Addressing a gathering on the National Minorities’ Day at the Presidency on Tuesday, he said: “Islam, constitution, state and people are custodians of the rights of the minorities, anybody violating this principal would be considered an enemy of Pakistan and the state would take punitive action against such elements.”

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yusuf, Parliamentary Secretary Khalil George, representative of Hindu community and MNA Dr Rameesh Kumar, representative of Sikh community MPA Sardar Rameesh Singh Arora, representative of Christian community MNA Mrs Asia Nasir, representative of Parsi community MNA Asfanyar Bhandara and representative of Bahai community Ms Mona Qaimi also addressed on the occasion, reportedly.
