Man aims Punjab IG with a shoe over Kasur case

Area locals and relatives of the victims of Kasur child abuse case went violent on Tuesday during Punjab Inspector General (IG) Mushtaq Sukhera’s news conference.

According to details, Punjab IG went to Kasur to hold a press conference where the child abuse victims and residents of the area raised slogans against the police.

Protesters kept raising slogans demanding suspension of SP Investigation and DPO Kasur during IG’s press conference. They surrounded Punjab IG while he was trying to return from the scene. One of the protesters threw his shoe on the Punjab IG but it hit another officer. They also surrounded police’s cars. IG Punjab left the place amid high security.

Holding the press conference earlier, the Punjab IG said that seven people have been accused by the local police but this case will now be investigated by Joint Investigation Team (JIT). He said that everyone will witness justice if it gets proved before the JIT that the police gave favor to the suspects or refused to register cases against them.

The IG said he was sorry for the clash between the protesters and the police. He said that cases will be registered on every application in this case but requested the people not to file fake cases. The Punjab IG also announced action against Ganda Singh Wala Police Station SHO under regulatory and criminal provisions.
