Fast bowler Junaid Khan is wishful to perform well against England saying if given a chance, he will prove his selection right.
Talking to a TV channel, he said he was fit and preparing well for series against England, adding, “Right now I am playing county cricket in England while representing Middlesex to regain my form.”
Junaid Khan had signed for English county side Middlesex to represent them in the 2015 Royal London One-Day Cup.
The Pakistan bowler last played in England with Lancashire in 2014 where he took 19 wickets in 10 Natwest T20 Blast matches with best figures of 4/12 and was instrumental in his side’s advance to the final of that competition. Apart from his pivotal role in Lancashire’s success during his stint in 2014, Junaid Khan also proved to be very popular with the Lancashire fans.
The pace said he was dejected after being dropped against Sri Lanka in One Day International series but vowed to make a comeback in the team after satisfying the selectors through his fitness and performance.
“I was certainly depressed but legendary bowler WasimAkram encouraged me a lot besides giving me some tips to further improve my bowling,” he added.
Junaid said he was following the tips of WasimBhai which would definitely polish his bowling skills.
Khan has played 52 one-day internationals since his debut in April 2011 taking an impressive 78 wickets at an average of 25.72 at an economy rate of just above five. Surprisingly he has only featured in nine T20 internationals, where he has eight wickets at an average of 29.50.
It was pertinent to mention that WasimAkram had earlier criticized selectors and team management for dropping Junaid Khan from the team every now and then saying the board was not using Junaid properly.
