One person was killed and dozen others were injured when a building caught fire in Ichra area of the city on Tuesday.
As per details, fire erupted in the shopping centre which quickly spread and engulfed the entire structure with fire and smoke. Rescue sources said that the fire was a result of a short circuit.
Several people were trapped inside the burning building as the fire engulfed the entry and exit points.
In order to save their lives, three people jumped off the building who were shifted to a nearby hospital where their condition was reported to be critical. One of the victims succumbed to his wounds during treatment.
Several other victims were shifted to the Services Hospital for treatment of burn injuries and smoke inhalation.
The fire was brought under control after several hours of hectic efforts of the Rescue 1122 firefighters.
