Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association’s (FAPUASA) President, Sindh chapter, Dr Ayaz Ali Kerio said on Wednesday that associations would postpone its decision of strike in Sindh’s universities till August 20 as the Sindh government had given positive gesture to resolve their issues regarding direct appointments of registrars and controller of examinations in universities.
Universities would continue their academic and non-academic work until FAPUASA issues next directives to them as a dialogue is going on with authorities concerned of the Sindh government, he said while presiding over a meeting with representatives of universities’ associations on Wednesday in Hyderabad.
The meeting was also attended by office-bearers of associations and teachers associations from Karachi’s universities.
Dr Ayaz said that FAPUASA’s delegation had conducted a meeting with Secretary to Chief Minister Sindh on Higher Education, Iqbal Durani, a few days back who assured them of resolving their issues before August 20.
He said the authorities concerned asked the FAPUASA to present its demands to the Sindh government to withdraw its decision about appointments of registrars and controller of examinations and sought recommendations regarding bringing an amendment in the act. Ayaz said the secretary also assured them that university rules and regulations would not be bypassed and he called meeting with FAPSUASA on August 20.
