PFA to continue checking process without indiscrimination: Dr Chauhan

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) is working day and night to ensure safe and international standard food is being provided to the citizens, said Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Dr Sajid Chauhan during a briefing in training session at Professional Development Department (PDD), conducted for DCOs, officers of districts administration, officers of task forces and others.

Minister for Food, secretary Food and other officials also attended the training.

Experts of PFA, University of Veterinary Science and others highlighted the food adulteration and protective measures.

Dr Chauhan said that the food authority officials will not compromise on safety measures in hotels and restaurants and owners of hotels and restaurants should ensure train is imparted to kitchen staff, waiters and employees concerned regarding hygienic principles in the interest of the health of the citizens.

He said that the PFA will undertake checking of all hotels and restaurants regarding implementation of rules and regulations and the method of grading will be evolved under PFA Scoring System and there would be no compromise on adulteration in food products. He said that hotels and restaurants owners should not also compromise on the standard and hygiene principles.

“The hotels owners should pay special attention to the cleanliness condition in their kitchen as unhygienic food can cause food poisoning, diarrhea besides affecting kidneys and eye sight,” he concluded.
