Fazl resents raids on religious seminaries

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed his concerns and resentment over the raids on religious seminaries and arrests of clerics.

In an interview on Sunday, Fazl said that crackdowns by security institutions and police on seminaries are not acceptable at all and he will convey his concerns to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Commenting over the amendments in the electoral process, he said that the Parliament should be put to task to ensure transparency in elections and electoral reforms.

“If the Election Commission is proved to be unconstitutional then it should also be reconstituted,” he added.

The JUI-F chief questioned that how Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan came to know about rigging in 2013 general election after passage of one year.

Commenting on formation of Military Courts, Fazl said that Peshawar tragedy was a big incident which led to amendment in the constitution.

He said that his party was not in favour of the military courts but the Parliament chalked out a discriminatory law in this regard.
