NetSol founder Salim Ghauri, who calls himself Pakistan’s Bill Gates, is, in addition to being as humble as a person who calls himself Pakistan’s Bill Gates can be, is the honorary consul of Lahore’s Australian consul general.
The other day, he held a lunch in honour of the new Australian High Commissioner. Unfortunately, much to the chagrin of the media present at the occasion, she apologised and said she in not authorised to make any statement as the ambassador.
Why? Because she was yet to present her credentials to the president since her arrival in the country in June.
And why is that? Because the fine folks at the Foreign Office had told her that nothing gets done in the country in Ramzan so she should wait for a bit!
