Rs 190m allocated for women, children in five years

The government has allocated Rs 189.997 million for women and children related projects at Islamabad Capital Territory during last five years, official sources said.

As many as Rs 40.622 million were allocated for Family Protection and Rehabilitation Center for Women Islamabad (Shaheed Benazir Bhuto Center for Women), Rs 36.137 million for National Child Protection Centre (NCPC) and Rs 56.619 million for Women Welfare and Development Centre Islamabad.

Official sources said that the amount allocated for Family Protection and Rehabilitation Centre for Women, Rs 10.175m allocated were allocated in 2014-15, Rs 6.909 million in 2013-14, Rs 8.501 million in 2012-13 and Rs 10.282 million in 2011-12, while Rs 4.755 million were reserved in 2010-11.

For National Child Protection Centre Rs 9.532 million were earmarked in 2014-15, Rs 8.793 million in 2013-14, Rs 6.697 million in 2012-13, Rs 6.389 million in 2011-12 and Rs 4.726 million in 2010-2011.

The details of funding for Women Welfare and Development Centre Islamabad was Rs 23.3 million in 2014-15, Rs 16.4 million in 2013-14, Rs 6.4 million in 2012-13, Rs 5.6 million in 2011-12 and Rs 4.919 million in 2010-11.

The Punjab government Women Development Department has set up Directorate of Women Development, Commission on the Status of Women and Women Ombudsperson.

The consolidated budget of these units per year remained Rs 46.738 million in 2012-13, Rs 78.428 million in 2013-14 and Rs 172.619 million in 2014-15.

The government of Sindh has allocated funds under various Annual Development Plans for the welfare of women during last five yeaRs He said in 2010-11, it allocated Rs 270 million, in 2011-12, Rs 317.827 million reserved for these projects while in 2012-13, Rs 435.00 million, in 2013-14, Rs 313 million and in 2014-15, Rs 313.2 million.
