Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and the Senate standing committee have ordered an inquiry against CDA officials who were allegedly involved in allowing slums to flourish in Islamabad.

The Senate standing committee has also sought a report from the CDA chairman in this regard.

A source in the interior ministry said that after the inquiry, the names of the corrupt CDA officials will be made public before initiating proceedings against them.

Earlier, Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani also gave a ruling that only operation was not sufficient but names of those who had allowed slums to flourish should be disclosed.

According to the source, Inspector Shahid, the son of the CDA union president, has been in the forefront in allowing illegal construction and encroachments after taking bribes from people.

When contacted, CDA Spokesman Ramzan Sajd said that CDA will file its reply to the Senate standing committee after an inquiry was complete in the light of orders of Senate chairman and the interior minister.
