LHC CJ directs arrest of judge’s killers

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik has directed the Police to arrest culprits involved in murder of Rawalpindi additional district and session judge Tahir Khan Niazi and to expedite the investigation process.

Chairing a meeting of police officers on Thursday, the CJ directed that legal procedure to find out facts and consequences leading to the heinous crime be completed at the earliest.

All aspects of the case be kept in view so the culprits are put behind the bars, he added.

He condemned the act of terrorism and said all involved in the case must face the law as he also discussed measures to strengthen security of the judges and judicial complexes.

The police officers, on the occasion, briefed the CJ about the initial progress in the case and assured that they would nab the culprits at the earliest.

Among others Senior Judge Lahore High Court Mr. Justice Sardar Tariq Masud, RPO Rawalpindi Fakhar Sultan Raja, CPO Israr Ahmed Abbasi, SSP Operation and SP CIA attended the meeting

The CJ attended the funeral of the assassinated judge held at Rawal Chowk ground. Judges, large number of people from all walks of life, elected representatives, lawyers, PML (N) leaders and representatives of Bar Associations were also present.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk and Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik also visited the residence of late Additional District and Session Judge, and expressed their heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
