Police Martyrs Day observed in KP

Police Martyrs Day on Tuesday was observed in all district headquarters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while speakers paid tributes to all the cops who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Prestigious ceremonies to mark the Day were held at all the police lines of the districts; all senior officers of the police, families and relatives of the martyred policemen attended.

August 4, the death anniversary of former Commandant Frontier Constabulary, Safwat Ghayur Shaheed who was killed in a suicide attack near his office in 2010, was declared as Police Martyrs Day in KP by the IGP Nasir Khan Durrani few days ago.

The day is aimed at remembering the sacrifices of martyrs and boosting the moral of Ghazis policemen.

In this connection, an impressive function was held at Police Line Hangu where District Police Officer Anwar Saeed Kundi was the chief guest.

The function was attended by the police officers, jawans, relatives and families of the slain policemen besides Ghazis.

Speaking on the occasion, DPO, Anwar Saeed Kundi said history of KP police is full of gallantry and the sacrifices rendered by the department in war against terror would be remembered for long.

He said KP police have performed duties on the front line in the war against terror in very testing times and destroyed nefarious designs of many enemies of peace.

He referred to the sacrifice rendered by senior officers including DIG Malik Saad Shaheed, FC Commandant, Sifwat Ghayoor Shaheed, SP Abdul Kalam and SP Khurshid Khan shaheed besides DIG Abid Ali Shahhed that set a great example of chivalry for police officers.

He said it was the sacrifice of police officers that helped returned peace to the province.

The DPO praised the sacrifices rendered by the Hangu policemen and termed martyrs were the real heroes of the nation.

Later, the DPO distributed gifts among the heirs and children of police martyrs.

A smartly contingent of Hangu police presented solute to the Yadgar e Shuhada (Martyrs Police Monument) on this occasion. The residents of Hangu presented sword gift to the DPO. Later, flowers wreath was laid on the Martyrs Police Monument.

Similarly, a function was also held at Nowshera, Swat, Hazara, DI Khan, Kohat and Peshawar where the speakers also paid tributes to the martyred police officials.

Special camps were also held at the cantonment and city of Peshawar for education and awareness of masses and young generation regarding the sacrifices made by KP police.

Portraits and banners inscribed with different slogans and photos of shuhada were displayed at prominent places in Peshawar in connection with Police Martyrs Day.
