The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sukkur, has arrested Abdul Naeem Soomro, XEN Highway Division, and Riaz Hussain Kalhoro, Tender Clerk Highway Division, Qambar Shahdadkot.
Both the accused persons were arrested on the allegations of misuse of authority, misappropriation and causing loss to the govt exchequer to the tune of Rs 16 million (approximately). The accused persons acted in furtherance of common intention in connivance with contractors.
A complaint was made to NAB that accused persons illegally withdrew an amount of Rs 16 million by preparing fake/bogus forms 28, returning fake security deposits and also withdrew govt funds on account of repair and maintenance of rollers during the year of 2012-13.
On the basis of evidence, investigation was directed against the accused. During the course of investigation, it has been established that the accused persons are involved in commission of offence of corruption and corrupt practices under section 9(a) of NAO, 1999, which resulted into loss to the national exchequer. Accused Abdul Naeem Soomro also filed a petition before the Sindh High Court of bench at Sukkur which was dismissed the same day. They will be produced before the accountability court at Sukkur for their physical remand.
THREE CORRUPT OFFICIALS ARRESTED
The Anti-Corruption Establishment has arrested two ex-administrators of Quetta Town Cooperative Housing Society and Assistant Director Water Management Umerkot for causing loss of millions to the government.
Anti-Corruption Establishment Director Nazar Muhammad Bozdar has informed that ACE Karachi has registered FIR No 32/2015 against Altaf Hussain Memon, ex-administrator M/s Quetta Town Cooperative Housing Society and others for causing loss of Rs 50,26,507 to the government and arrested Altaf Hussain Memon, ex-administrator of Quetta Cooperative Housing Society.
The director further informed that ACE Karachi had also registered FIR No 33/2015 against another ex-administrator M/S Quetta Town Cooperative Housing Society Akhtar Pathan and others for causing loss of Rs 1,03,72,374 to government and arrested Akhtar Pathan.
He said that the ACE Umerkot had also registered FIR No 01/2015 against Assistant Director Water Management Umerkot Anwar Ali Mangrio and others for causing loss of Rs 4,76,70,188 to the government and arrested Anwar Ali Mangrio Assistant Director Water Management Umerkot.
