Prolonged power outages cause grief

The Ministry of Water and Power (W&P) taking the notice of prolonged power outages in business hub of the federal capital Islamabad has directed the Chief Executive Office (CEO) Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) to submit a report besides stern action against the responsible.

According to details, after heavy downpour several areas of Islamabad including PIA Building, Kashmir Commercial Complex other trade centres of Blue Area had to face load shedding of more than 10 hours adversely disrupting the official work and trade activities.

SDO office sector F-7 was contacted several times to known about the situation and it told that power supply will be restored within 10 to 15 minutes but it took several hours for restoration of electricity supply.

The annoyed citizens and traders lodged a complaint with Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Muhammad Asif and he directed to remove the fault and restore the supply.

Despite repeated attempts CEO IESCO did not attend the call. The Ministry of W&P taking the notice had asked him to submit a report besides action against the officials responsible for the situation.
