President Mamnoon Hussain has stressed the need for acquiring modern education as it is imperative for the development of the country.
He was addressing the 39th Convocation of National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences Islamabad on Monday.
The president said education has great importance in creating awareness among the people. He urged the educational institutions to harmonise the new generation with the demands of the current era. He said the Government is making efforts to enhance the allocation for education sector to four percent of GDP within its limited resources.
Mamnoon Hussain said corruption has greatly harmed the country. He said that we have to strengthen our economy to achieve goal of development and to discourage corruption. He said that we have to wage war against corruption and to isolate corrupt elements by social boycott with them.
He said the present government has inherited 14,800 billion rupees debt. He said the previous government had taken loans worth of 8,000 billion rupees during its tenure but executed no mega project.
Referring to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the president said that the project will not only benefit Pakistan but also other countries of the region. He said the Corridor includes a number of infrastructure and energy projects which will create great economic activities in the country. He urged the students to get themselves ready to take benefit of these projects.
The president awarded medals and degrees to the passing out students in various disciplines.
