Sindh IGP GH Jamali presided over a meeting at the CPO office and reviewed police progress and performance on implementation of the National Action Plan.
The meeting was attended by Additional IG of Special Branch & Karachi DIGs of headquarters and Zonal DIGs of Karachi and AIGs of Operations & Logistics. Additional IGs of SB and Karachi briefed the chair about the police progress after the National Action Plan was put in place.
It was informed to the meeting that fresh exercise was being undertaken to collect comprehensive details about the madaris in the province in accordance with the queries highlighted in recently prepared performa by the SB. “The fresh survey is being conducted to ensure availability of an accurate comprehensive data about registered and unregistered madaris in the province along with other relevant information,” the meeting told.
The IGP directed to complete the said survey within 15 days positively. The Addl IG SB informed that as soon as the survey process was completed, the obtained details would be shared with the police on operational duties. He further informed that the SB was also conducting exercise of Geo Tagging of madaris and the process was started which would be completed within a month. The IGP directed the AIG logistics to ensure that all required resources to be provided to the SB for early completion of Geo Tagging.
The IG emphasized upon strict monitoring over acts of hate speeches, distribution of hate materials and wall-chalking and directed to arrest and register cases against all those involved, under relevant laws, pursuing the provisions of NAP. He also sought the list of activists of proscribed organisations presently on bail and asked to devise a fool proof monitoring mechanism about their present activities. He also reviewed mechanism of monitoring of persons on IVth schedule and directed the DIGs and districts SSPs to ensure whatever is required under the laws. The meeting also decided upon ensuring proper documentation of persons in respect of rental accommodations, hotels, guest/rest houses, as per the requirements of the laws with immediate effect.
The meeting also discussed in detail the progress of intelligence network for legal action against all those involved in funding of proscribed/terrorist organisations. The IG directed the SB, CTD and Karachi Police to ensure mutual coordination in assistance with other LEAs/IAs to achieve the set goal of NAP. Jamali further directed to speed up the existing province-wide campaign to arrest POs and absconders.
