Political, military leadership on same page against terrorism: Shahbaz

The National Action Plan (NAP) is a jointly agreed upon strategy of the political and the military leaderships to fight terrorism, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday while addressing the passing-out parade ceremony of Counter-Terrorism Force (CTF) in Lahore.

Shahbaz said the CTF, Punjab Police and other law enforcement agencies are working in a coordination manner to effectively implement the NAP.

He said all funds worth billions of rupees for training of the force have been provided by the Punjab government. He said the military and political leadership is on the same page against terrorism.

He said merit has been ensured in recruitment of CTF, and hoped the new recruits will play their effective role in rooting out the menace of terrorism from the country.

He congratulated the personnel passing out and their parents on the occasion.

He said that the personnel would ensure safety of the lives and properties of the people. It is hoped that the fresh personnel would fight terrorism to the best of their abilities, he added.

He said that the ATF would clear the country of terrorism.

While talking about Operation Zarb-e-Azb, he said that the Pakistan Army is making history with the kind of success it has gained. He said that the country’s security is in good hands.

“The Pakistan’s security forces remain alert day and night to counter insurgencies,” he added.

He said that in order to steer the country out of crisis, the entire nation needs to work hard united.

CTF WELL EQUIPPED, TRAINED:

Earlier, addressing the ceremony, Punjab Inspector General (IG) Mushtaq Sukhera said the induction and modern training of CTF in CTD will be the opening of new era in the history of the Punjab Police.

The 3rd batch of 332 corporals included 298 male and 34 female. With the passing out of 3rd batch of corporals, the training process of all 1,500 corporals has been completed so far. The first two batches already have been posted in fields after successful completion of their training.

The IGP further said that the CTD police stations are operational in Punjab and in these police stations, 141 cases have been registered. He said that the CTD also arrested 16 most hardened terrorists, 84 facilitators of these terrorist and 41 speakers for delivering hate speeches.

He also said that heavy quantity of explosive material and weapons have been recovered by the CTD.

The IGP said that these corporals are delivering very professionally and it is due to their daring efforts, 175 high profile terrorism cased have been transferred from district police to CTD police stations among which 10 cases have been traced.

He said that with the cooperation of PITB, the CTD teams have completed the task of geo-tagging of seminaries. He said that the other provinces are following the policies of Punjab Police’s CTD Department. He said that now the survey and geo-tagging process of mosques and other holly places will be started very shortly.

Sukhera appreciated the chief minister for providing ample funds for enhancing the capacity building of CTD. He said that the lands have been allotted to all districts for establishing the CTD offices.

He further said that the force has been trained with the progressive and modern methodology and they were determined to weed out the terrorism and also were trained to meet multidimensional challenges of terrorism. He said that they were given the special training in three areas including gathering of intelligence information, conducting special operations, interrogation the targets involved and investigation of terrorism cases. He said that these corporals are able to serve the department on 24/7 basis.

Sukhera further said that the standard training period for the corporals was of 9 months, which included 7 months of common training program and two months of special training program including eight latest training modules, added the IGP.

Later, IGP presented the traditional shield to the Punjab chief minister.
