The issue to reopen educational institutions in Sindh has once again fell victim to dispute as All Private Schools Management Association (APSMA) and other such bodies are on different stand which had earlier collectively rejected the extension in vacations announced by the provincial government.

The Sindh government has cancelled the notification of the Sindh Secretary Education Fazlullah Pechuho to open the institutions on 3rd August as the chief minister’s spokesperson has stated that the institutions will open on August 11.

The spokesperson also said that legal action would be taken against those who would violate the orders and they may be awarded a punishment for six months. On the other hand, the Rabta committee and private schools management had opposed the CM’s notification. A statement issued by the APSMA said the districts which were not hit by recent flash floods and torrential monsoon rains would resume education in private schools by August 3 as scheduled. It said that they were ready to go to jails but they would stick to their decisions. The govt should not make this issue controversial rather it should assist the students and educational institutions for promoting the cause of education, it further added.

Parents and students are confused and worried as new announcements are made every other day whereas the government and private institutions are not seen to be coming on one page.

It is pertinent to add that Mir Hazar Khan Bajrani has been given the portfolio of Sindh’s education minister but till date he has not assumed his office, thus leaving the issue of opening of schools to further controversies.
