Inspection of beauty salons

The beauty salons for females in Lahore, which claim to be resorts of beauty, personal care and spas have failed in provision of quality services at affordable rates. They are merely evolving as profit maximizing entities; with a minimum focus on customer satisfaction. The beauty salons seem to be overcharging the customers for their services, which is merely consumer exploitation. They even are reported to use substandard beauty products and services for skin and hair care, which is certainly against the consumer ethics.

The element of courtesy and consideration for the customers is missing in the staff of the beauty salons. The staff especially the signature owners, who render services such as hairstyling and makeup are devoid of empathy and consideration towards their clients in different degrees. They are many times seem to be getting rude and peevish with their clients, if they request them to provide them highly personalized services exactly as per their requirements. The staff and the owners of the salon feel challenged if a consumer individually requests them to provide for exclusive hair services etc. They feel being dictated at the hands of consumers, who tend to solicit them to render them services as per their specific needs and expectations. No due regard is even paid to loyal customers at the beauty salons. This contradicts the principles of consumer ethics.

Considering the grave situation of the beauty salons, there stands a dire need for the consumer authorities to regularly inspect the beauty salons to analyze their services, prices and the credibility of the salons’ staff. The beauty services of various salons should be standardized. Small substandard salons, which are opened in every nook and cranny of different residential areas should be closed, and the beauty services of quality salons should be subsidized.
