3 XENs of HESCO removed from service

The ministry of water and power have dismissed from service three XENs after they were found involved in making bogus adjustments of millions of rupees.

Those who have been removed include XEN operation, Latifabad, HESCO, Tariq Bajari, XEN operation, Nawabshah, Ashok Kumar, and XEN Kotri, Imtiaz Ahmed Qureshi. These officers were caught involved in the bogus adjustments in the review meeting held in February 2015 by Secretary Water and Power Mohammad Younus Dagha.

The secretary at a meeting in Islamabad in February suspended three XENs on heavy credit adjustment. Mr Tariq BBajari, Xen Latifabad, on charges of credit adjustment of Rs 77.25 million in January, 2015; Imtiaz Ahmad Qureshi, XEN Kotri on charges of credit adjustment of Rs 46.302 million in January, 2015, and Mr Ashok Kumar, then XEN Nawabshah, was removed on charges of credit adjustments of Rs 93.63 million also in January, 2015.

After initiation of formal enquiry by the HESCO CEO as per the existing legal procedure, these officers were found involved and penalty of removal of service has been imposed on them.

These officers were afforded all forums including explanations, show-cause, personal hearing etc and their response were found unsatisfactory by the HESCO.

It may be added that the secretary water and power conducts monthly review meetings of the performance of distribution companies on the basis of MoUs entered with each company. Targets are assigned for improvement to all the distribution companies and system has been effectively playing its role in identification of such adjustment etc.
