MQM denounces arrests of its workers, supporters

The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement has protested the unwanted and illegal arrests of MQM workers and supporters and their shifting to unknown place and termed it as a conspiracy against the law and the constitution of Pakistan.

In a statement on Saturday, the Coordination Committee members said the arrest of MQM workers and supporters and keeping them at unknown places under the garb of targeted operation was being done under a planned conspiracy which had created an uncertainty and spread fear in every nook and corner of the city.

They said that Rangers raided a house in Liaquatabad and arrested a member of unit committee Muhammad Asif. The other day agencies’ men in plain clothes arrested Muhammad Jawed, son in law of MQM elders wing member Muhammad Ejaz. Muhammad Jawed’s son, Muhammad Ali Khan, was also arrested by them.

They expressed their grave concern over the ever increasing raids and arrests of party workers and supporters from almost every part of the city and added that MQM Orangi Town Sector Unit 124 member Anees, son of Hanif, was also arrested the other day

They said these illegal raids and arrests had exposed the tall claims of a democratic government and termed the present government as worse than the era of previous ‘Martial Law’ tenures.

They said arrests of the innocent MQM workers and supporters must immediately be stopped and the targeted operation should be focused purely on the real terrorists and enemies of the state.
