The civic agency has failed to update the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on a high-rise building being constructed behind Jinnah Convention Centre near Diplomatic Enclave despite several reminders.
The under-construction high-scrapper — Grand Hayat — has already been declared a security risk by agencies and the PAC had taken note of the issue by asking the CDA to inform it about the present status of the building.
According to a source in the parliament, the PAC has written different letters to the CDA to get updated about the high-rise but it has failed to commit on the reminders.
According to the source, the high-rise building has been declared a security risk but it has put the civic agency in an awkward situation as the owner could claim a compensation of Rs 50 billion from the CDA in case it was demolished. The PAC has reminded the CDA that the issue was sensitive and it will not tolerate any excuse from the civic agency, and it had to take action against the building.
